Who is Heeler MetalCraft?

Owner / Founder

Matt Horick founded Heeler MetalCraft LLC to do what he has always done, build things.

Matt has a BFA in Sculpture and has spent most of his professional career in the architectural metals and museum exhibit design / fabrication fields.

A rather simple person, he prefers not to be inside, doesn’t care one bit about social media, loves The Misfits, boom-bap, and Waylon, drinks plain black coffee and tap water (occasionally unsweetened tea), and would choose to hang out with his wife Lenae over anything else he could be doing.

For some reason, as long as he can remember, he’s been drawn to metals… to welding, forming, manipulating and being around metals in general. He has no family history in any of this, he always just felt like it is what he needs to be doing.

Shop Foreman / HR:

Frankenstein-Marie is the namesake for Heeler MetalCraft. Born in a chicken coop in North Carolina, she monitors all tasks as closely as possible, will not hesitate to speak her mind, provides emotional “support”, and makes sure everyone is on task… just watch your step, she’s probably underfoot.

Lead Fabricator:

Matt has been under the hood, machining, forming, finishing, nailing tolerances and deadlines for almost 20 years… he knows how to make it happen. He learned with relatively little, and a huge part of his success was time spent working with an incredible mentor, so thank you Shaun.

Lead Designer:

Matt has been working in Rhino3D since about 2009 when the Fine Arts department chair signed him up for 3D modeling without telling him, saying “you’ll need this”… and he was not wrong. Thank you Tom.

His Mom made the owl in the office, and makes all of his nice pearl snaps. Not the one in the photo, that’s a work shirt.

CNC Operator / IT / Facilities:

As a small company, Matt does this as well. IT not so much, but he has well over 800 hours on the CNC. He does his best to understand computers when he has to, but he does not enjoy it one bit.

He also literally built the shop.
